Amarillo by morning.....

Well, we made it to Amarillo although unlike George Strait we made it by night. We left a little after 10 am this morning and filled up both tanks at $2.15 a gallon (not too bad). We were only on the road for about 1/2 and hour and found ourselves at a dead stop. There was a pretty big accident and the road was down to 1 lane. After we finally passed up the wreck things went pretty smoothly. It seemed like we got to Wichita Falls rather quickly but then the afternoon sun started hitting us since we're driving West and it made the rest of the day seem long. We made it to our first hotel (yes I said first hotel) in Amarillo by 5:30pm. We checked in to the Baymont Inn and it was in what we thought a bad part of town. The room had a funny smell too and no internet service available either. We decided to leave and we're now at the old reliable La Quinta. Not so fancy but it's in a better part of town and clean. We walked over to Bennigan's for dinner and now we're trying to plan for our the final day of driving. We have enjoyed the change of scenery here in West Texas. It's very hilly and there are buttes in the distance...maybe that's the start of the mountains?? It was very hot today; however, the humidity is already gone compared to Houston. We are posting a few pictures of us on this leg of our journey. You can see Carrie waiting while Chris pumps the gas, Chris feeding his internet addiction, and poor Noelle exhausted from the bump bump of the truck just crashed out on the bed. We hope you all keep up with us and we're thinking of you all on the way. Love & Miss Everyone!

Guess where we went....

We ate dinner at Braums! And the best part was of course the ice cream. For those of you who don't know, we LOVE Braums. Christopher got his cookies....of course, and Carrie got the best peanut butter hot fudge sundae there ever was!

Happy Trails

Well, were off to our big adventure! We left Pearland at 11:30 today and drove a little over 4 hours to Ennis, TX where we're staying for the night. The drive seemed longer than it was because there was a ton of traffic, mostly 18 wheelers that would run you off the road if they could. It took awhile for Chris to get used to towing the car and the big truck. We did really well though and arrived safely. We have now completed leg 1 of our 3 leg journey. Thanks to all of you wishing us well and keeping us in your thoughts.

Well its a nice day there for sure vs in the 90's here in Houston. I am less then 2 weeks and counting and cant wait.

I have to say the only thing i will NOT miss is the TX heat.I have been here just under 10 years and i am still not use to it and if i stayed i might not ever.
One thing i cant wait is for it to snow we only had that happen one time in the last 100 years and that was 2 xmas ago. I hope to see it some time in Oct.
