Well it was such a nice day today i had to go out and ride. When i left it was in the 60's and after getting there and riding for a Hr it started to get colder and on my way back to the truck it really got cold. By the time i got down to the bottom of Boulder canyon it was in the 40's i had to turn on the heat in my truck because i was wearing shorts still but hey it was warm when i left.

I hope you enjoy the pic's

Went up in the MTN's to ride my bike

Pic's from the snow we had last night

First snow of the Season

We got our first snow in Colorado! It was a perfect amount to get us started and used to having snow around. We got about 3" here in the foothills and the mountains got 8". It was a really awesome day to be home and just watch the snow fall outside. We had some fancy hot chocolate (used the Cafe Latte maker that Carrie bought for Chris last Christmas for the first time) and curled up on the couch and watched the movie Click. It was, we decided the perfect ending to a pefect day. As many of you know we walk our cat, Noelle. She is worse than a dog when it comes to begging to go outside. So we decided to let her out & see what happens. She was really funny at first, she couldn't figure out what was falling out of the sky. She didn't stay out long but she did end up taking a little walk in the snow. When she came in she was FRISKY! They sell these things here called Pawtectors to cover the animals feet. We're gonna get some for her since there is no deterring her evening walks. There are some other strange things we've noticed here that we will share with ya'll. There are lots & lots of prairie dogs. They are everywhere...cute little things, but weird. Also, people do not like to drive here. They complain when you have to go 20 minutes to get somewhere. They definately couldn't make it in TX where everything is spread out. On Columbus Day the Indians held a protest. They want to abolish Columbus Day all together. We've never heard that point of view before. Anyway, we are really enjoying getting to know the area and learning lots everyday. We went to REI (a huge sporting goods store) in Downtown Denver the other day to buy a helmet for Christopher's Birthday. He is very excited about going Mountain Biking before Winter sets in. It was a really cool store. They have a huge rock climbing wall inside and everything you could ever need if you were planning on being stranded in the snow covered mountains for months on end.
Carrie is still looking for a job, but has a 2nd interview on Thursday morning with the company she really wants to work for. Keep your fingers crossed! Well enjoy the snow pictures. Since there is another storm coming this weekend I'm sure we'll have even more. Maybe we'll have a snowman to show you soon! Take care everyone!

Pictures

Well, we didn't make it to Estes Park on Monday. It was raining and sleeting here which means the mountains were getting snow. We aren't exactly used to driving in that yet so we decided to try another day instead. Apparently the weather predictors here are the same as everywhere. They said we were supposed to have snow twice this week but NO SNOW ever came. We have had very cold weather though so we've been enjoying it a lot. We had what you might consider "soup" weather. We made chili and oatmeal butterscotch cookies all while still in our cozy p.j.'s. We went to a real live pumpkin farm on Wednesday. It was really awesome! We picked out 2 pumkins, a bale of hay and some gourds and Indian corn. We couldn't believe how cheap they all were. We'll post some pictures so you can see too. We took a drive up to Boulder yesterday. It was beautiful weather. Boulder is only 10 miles from us and is really a nice town. It's right at the bottom of the mountains and we could really see what they mean by Flat Irons, they actually stick out from the mountains. On our way home we decide that it had been long enough without Mexican food so we found 3 Margaritas. We looked at reviews online and people said that it was really good and more of a Tex Mex place. We went in very excited and came out very confused. Carrie ordered a chicken fajita stuffed burrito. There was more bell pepper in there than chicken. Even weirder than that: they serve all their entrees with beans, rice and.......
coleslaw! Yes coleslaw. So we asked the waiter "is it Mexican coleslaw?" and he looked at us like we had 3 heads and said "No, it's just regular coleslaw". We will keep searching for some "real" Mexican food.
Carrie is still on the job hunt and has two interviews Friday morning. Hopefully something good will come along soon. We hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy our pictures. Keep checking back for more updates! Love to all!

Our new place

Here are some pictures of our new apartment. They are taken the day we were moving in so it looks different now. Just so you all have an idea of where we are. The picture of the closet with Carrie's wedding dress is a huge storage closet underneath the upstairs peoples stairs. It would not be possible to live here without the extra storage space. Then you'll see pictures of Christopher with his bike on our patio. You can see that we are on sorta a hill so behind him is a walking path and ravine. You can also see in the other picture is our front door and patio all in one...it's kinda weird but better than sliding doors on the patio that take up so much space. We are going to take some more pictures now that we have unpacked and then you will all be able to see things better. We are planning to go to Estes Park on Monday for a scenic drive from Peak to Peak and we'll have lots of pictures to show you. Hope everyone has a great weekend! We miss you & love you all!

views from our drive

These are some pictures of Raton Pass that takes you from New Mexico into Colorado. It was really pretty. This was the perfect time to move so we could see all the Fall colors.

We made it!

We got up later today than we had planned so we didn't get on the road until 10:40. We were in the need of gas and decided to stop at the next stop for a break. We drove and drove and finally saw what we suppose was a town but it just looked deserted. We have heard people say that if you sneeze you could miss it, they are surely referring to many of the towns on the Texas border. We had some pretty bad roads today too. It seemed like the last hour driving through Texas was nothing but corn field after corn field and then the huge silos used to process the corn. We did pass by a big sunflower farm which was really cool because Carrie was eating sunflower seeds at the same time. We passed into New Mexico and were only in the state for a little over an hour. We had heard so much about the Raton pass between New Mexico and Colorado and were worried about it. We were very pleased to find that it was really no big deal. We were able to stay at 40mph going up and then just kept switching gears going down. The scenery was absolutely beautiful! That was the worst part of the pass, we were trying to keep our eyes on the road and it was hard to not look around at all the trees changing colors. After we got to the Colorado side we looked into the distance and could see snow topped Rocky Mountains. It was awesome! They looked like a postcard. Carrie was really excited to see Christopher's reaction to his first view of the beautiful mountains. The rest of the drive through Colorado was really uneventful except for the most awful, vile bathroom on the planet. While we were fueling up we smelled this wonderful smell and couldn't believe how strong it was. It was pine from a nearby tree. We watched the mountains on our left and the plains on our right. When we got into Denver we passed Invesco Park where the Broncos play. We were surprised that everyone seemed to do the speed limit (55). We're gonna have to adjust to that one. We found our hotel for the night and are just going to relax since we have a big day tomorrow. The movers are coming to unpack and we have to figure out our way around. It's been really weird for us with the air. The elevation is really noticeable when we breathe. It doesn't take much to make you short of breath. The temps have been warm too...around 80 degrees but lows in the 40's. We'll keep you updated on our day tomorrow and let you know what we think about Broomfield and our apartment.
